King’s College’s results compare most favorable with both international and UK schools, placing us at the same level as top UK-based independent schools and selective entry state grammar schools. Our standards not only exceed the UK state sector by a wide margin, but they also place us alongside the UK independent school average for A*, A and B grades. According to OECD PISA tests, UK independent schools are the top-performing schools in the world.

The Headmaster, Mr Matthew Taylor, commented: “these are a truly remarkable set of results, reflecting all the long hours of work and commitment our pupils have put into their studies. The A level qualification is world recognized as a high standard in education and our students’ excellent results demonstrate that they leave school with top grades; a wonderful culmination of their school life. We wish them great success as they move on to university.”

Students at King’s College attend elite universities in the UK and beyond. Already today, we know that our pupils have gained places in some of the leading universities around the world. Head of Careers, Mr Paul McNally, is delighted to report that most King’s students will be able to proceed to their first-choice universities. Some highlights so far include ten students have been admitted by QS ranking’s World Top 10 universities: 1 each at Oxford and Cambridge, 3 at UCL and 5 at Imperial College London. A further 15 students have been admitted at universities in the World Top 25: 13 at Edinburgh, 2 at Kings College London. One student this year has a place at Berkeley – rated World Top 10 by the Times Higher Education Supplement and another pupil is going to LSE, which is placed in the World Top 25 by the Times Higher Education Supplement. An amazing 35 pupils thus far have been accepted into Russell Group universities including in addition to the aforementioned universities: Durham, Warwick, Bristol, Exeter, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Leeds and Sheffield. In addition to all this great news, one pupil has been accepted to read Veterinary Medicine – the hardest degree of all to access.

Support and Guidance beyond the academic

In recent years, 40 pupils from King’s College have gone to study at six of the top ten universities in the world (QS Ranking 2015) and at least 44% of the students study in a Russell Group university (Top UK institutions).

These magnificent achievements are a result of the rigorous, broad and comprehensive quality British education provided by King’s College, as well as the unique support and guidance that pupils receive from their teachers and fellow students throughout their whole academic journey.

“Behind the statistics, results of this quality do not happen by accident. They are the result of consistent hard work by the students themselves, supportive families and the professional approach and expertise of our top academic staff over many years.”, explained Mr. Taylor.

Upper Sixth students from King’s College are provided with a special programme of guidance and advice on their journey through their last years at school in order to access to the university, including a specialized preparation programme for entry to Oxbridge universities (Oxford and Cambridge).

The student’s individual tutors are especially qualified professionals that offer them support on their academic careers and university application processes, and at the same time provide them with personal assistance, making sure they have everything they need in order to undertake their goals with assurance and comfort.

2017 IGCSE Results

King’s College students have achieved excellent, outstanding GCSE results this year which are the best the School has achieved in the last 5 or more years.

In the IGCSE and GCSE examinations of 2017 39.5% of King’s College Soto’s entries this year were ranked as A*, 61.8% of passes being at A*/A grade. The overall pass rate (A*-C grades) was 95.9%, well up on 2016.

Mr Matthew Taylor, the Headmaster, commented, “We are delighted with the results and really proud of the achievements of all the pupils. These excellent results bode well for students’ achievements in years 12 and 13 and demonstrate how much can be achieved by motivated pupils, working with our first-rate teachers and their supportive parents.”

The GCSE results are all the more remarkable given that our students are mostly working in their second language. The results compare favorably with independent schools in the UK, some of which are highly selective in their intakes. Beneath the headlines, this was the largest cohort King’s has ever had in Year 11, a fact which makes the statistics all the more impressive. Moreover, there were superb performances across the different departments, with outstanding results in all the departments, ranging from Mathematics (85.9% A*/A), and History (79.0% A* /A) to French (98.8% A*/A), to Spanish (98.0% A*/A), and German (100 A*/A).
